What Can We Do??

Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra and financial capital of India, has been under tremendous pressure for the past few days. The reason behind this is Mr. Raj Thackray, nephew of Balasaheb Thackray and the head of Maharastra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
A few days ago, Raj Thackray made a public statement that due to the migration of north Indians in Maharashtra, the Marathi culture is slowly disappearing. He also criticized celebrities like Amar Singh and Amitabh Bacchan, who has made his career in Mumbai, for favouring his hometown (U.P.) rather than Mumbai. This led to political unrest everywhere which led to the arrest of Mr. Raj but after 13 days. Sadly, he was released 3 hours after the arrest.
Now we need to get answers to some questions. Was Mr. Raj right? Do his statements make sense? If yes, was the practical approach correct? Or all of this was just a political trick? Why did it take 13 days to arrest him? Why was he let out in 3 hours if his arrest was going to be non-bailable? Why do his supporters have to resort to violent means? Or are these just rookies looking for an excuse to create violence?
We may never know the exact answers but some things can be speculated. According to the newspapers, the reason that it took 13 days for them to arrest him was their doubt about the decision. His arrest would have made him a hero for his people but not arresting him would have been an injustice. What Mr. Raj says is partly true. Maharashtrian culture has been in great danger due to the large influence of North Indian culture. Bhelwalas, paanwalas have completely eradicated the culture from the streets. But driving people away by scaring and beating them is not the right thing to do. Every man is free to settle anywhere and earn his living. But he should take care as to not affect the people and the culture.
Mr. Raj needs to understand that creating violence and gangwars is not going to put an affect to his idealisms. He has to do something constructive to show his will for his people and his ideas. Otherwise all this seems a dirty political trick or a desperate move to be in the limelight.
I would like to share an incident which happened on the day of Mr. Raj’s arrest. A poor woman, who was not a Maharashtrian, was going through labour. Her husband approached a nearby hospital, but instead of help, he got severly beaten by the people there. The poor woman finally had to give birth to her child in the latrine of a train. She was so scared for the life of her husband and her child went to Patna and vowed never to return to Mumbai. I feel really shameful being a part of the community who was responsible for this. It is really disgusting to see at what level the atrocities of people can go.
But just writing and discussing about this is not going to help. With “Lead India” coming up, we need to DO something to improve the situation. Something to preserve the culture and people, something to show people that there are some Maharashtrians who are humanitarians. But the question is “What can we do?”

India is a country of diverse cultures, languages and customs and has been living in harmony for more than half a century, but there have been occasions when this secular state has been threatened by the communalist ideology and tried to abase this harmony(godhra riot, mumbai riots), these acts cannot be tolerated and Mr Raj is trying to do the same, just earn political mileage, its essential for him to understand these cowardly act of vandalism wont earn him any respect but only disgrace as the Indains know that in this globalized world no one knowz you as a bengali, marathi or punjabi but an INDIAN.

People who believe their culture is in danger or getting eradicated should realize that Cultures are not static they are dynamic. History has been a witness to this.
we have been ruled by mughals, pallavas, britishers, our culture has been constantly changing and same is now.

What i feel that mumbai being the financial capital india should set an example for others to follow by boycotting and booing away the mr raj's ideology
